I said no to this business for many, many years. My mom had sold Mary Kay my whole life and I was often asked if I was going to sell Mary Kay like her. I usually had the same reply, "No, I am going to train whales at SeaWorld." This response was met with confusion or laughter and eventually people quit asking. And by eventually, I mean after about 33 years. And no, I never did become an Orca trainer.
Fast forward to 2020 and bam! All of our lives changed and so did my mind!
Here's the scoop:
I tried a lot of other things along the way. Like I said, mom had sold Mary Kay and I just wasn't interested in sales or being THAT lady or anything like that. I also thought all these new businesses must be so much better than Mary Kay because they were NEW and surely they had learned from others who paved the way, right? All of these thoughts were one thing: WRONG. So what changed my mind?
Well, I got laid off from my main job. You know, the one that has benefits but also makes you want to pull your eyes out. Yeah, that one. Honestly, I was more relieved than anything because my anxiety was so high about leaving the house into the unknown virus land. I was also down to my last few rolls of toilet paper and stuck at home (as was everyone else on Earth at that time). So when my mom's friend asked me to try some samples and told me I could invite a few friends, I figured why not!
The party was completely virtual (held on Zoom) and a huge success. No one was being salesy or pushy or THAT lady. In fact, my friends started asking me why I wasn't doing this business! Did you read that? MY friends... not my mom's. So I went to bed thinking about maybe and woke up thinking YES! Why would I not do this? It's fun, it's flexible and it's the highest profit margin in the direct selling industry!! I decided to fill the shoes of my wonderful mother (who, by the way, didn't just sell Mary Kay...but RETIRED as a Mary Kay Ind. Senior National Sales Director!!) I know, I know...I'm stubborn. But I finally said YES and at the right TIME!
The rest is history :D
In less than two years, I worked this business around the crazy schedule of my dogs, my husband (who is in law enforcement) and my other part time jobs. Exciting things are happening and I'm so glad you stopped by to check it out!
